Norma Jean (Hellwig) Dyskievicz, previously of Danville, Illinois, was born the only child to Edward J Hellwig and Anna Marguerite (Byrd) Hellwig on December 29, 1928, at home in Danville. After a brief illness, she passed from this life unexpectedly on her husband's birthday, September 26, 2017.
Norma attended Danville schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1946. Soon after high school, she was employed at Milliken Dry Cleaners. She followed with employment at General Electric (Valmont) from which she retired in 1991 after 30-plus years as an assembler.
On June 1, 1963, Norma married the love of her life, Steve M Dyskievicz. Inseparable partners, they spent their years together planning, building and embellishing their home on Danville's south side while raising their daughter, Lynn.
Along with tending to her home, Norma spent her time caring for her family. After retirement she watched each of her grandchildren, while caring for her mother and later her husband. Memories of days around the kitchen table with a coke, a pastry, and countless cups of coffee will always be cherished.
Steve and Norma were parishioners at Holy Family Church and were active participants in the Marine Corps League both in Danville. Steve's 4th Marine Division reunions filled their retirement with travels all about the country. Times that each held precious.
Though Norma enjoyed gardening and shopping, there was little entertainment to fill her life with the passing of her husband, Steve, in 2003. Joining the Y's Silver Sneakers, however, gave her a social venue to aid the loss. At Danville,'s and later Grove City's YMCA Silver Sneakers, Norma met and maintained friendships that were a true blessing.
In 2010, her family relocated to Grove City, Pennsylvania, and Norma followed shortly after in the Spring of 2011. Residing with her family, enjoying time with them on holidays and birthdays, along with spending time with her new friends at Silver Sneakers in Grove City, made the transition easier. Living near, then with her family, for so many years has been a time treasured, leading now to a loss most profoundly heartfelt.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Lynn Dyskievicz-Dick (Bryan); her three prized and adored grandsons, Jared Michael Dick, Stefan Christopher Dick (Alivea), and Jesse Alexander Dick and Great Mamo's shining joy, her great-grandson, Auden Rhys Dick, all of Grove City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Steve.
