Jim’s soul and spirit left this earth on Friday, September 29, 2017, to be with his precious Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is now enjoying his specially prepared place which Jesus promised in John 14:2-3 to all who accept Him as their Saviour, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean Lewis and Janice Marie Lewis, and a stepson, Wyatt Parker Lanier.
Surviving are his wife and best friend, Linnie Hendrix Lewis of Statesboro; a son, James Dean (J.D.) (Kim) Lewis of Statesboro; two daughters, Sabrina (Ben) Park of Springfield, Oregon, and Andrea Lee Lewis of Girtletree, MD; two stepsons, Dwight (Heather) Lanier of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Zach (Candace) Lanier of Sugar Hill, GA; two sisters, Sharon Braddy (Rick) and Marcia Lewis (Benny), both of Statesboro. Seven grandchildren and several nephews also survive.
The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.
His body will be laid to rest in the Portal City Cemetery to await the reuniting with his soul and spirit on the day of the rapture of the church, at which time the body will be raised and changed to an incorruptible one, (1 Corinthians 15:52), “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Pallbearers will be Benny Lewis, Rick Braddy, Paul Ward, Brandon Braddy, Cody Lanier, and Chris Turner.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
