Marshall Powell, 87,Rt. 1, Geff, died at 12:50 p.m. Saturday in his home.

Services will be in the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne with Rev. Melvin Farmer and Rev. Rusty Dedigo presiding. Burial will be the Brown Cemetery near Mt. Erie. Full military rites will be conducted at graveside.

Mr. Powell was born March 18, 1894 in Wayne County, the son of John and Eliza (Shelton) Powell. He married Clara Gill Dec. 23, 1922 in Fairfield and she survives.

He was a retired cashier at the Mt. Erie State Bank; taught school in Wayne County for 25 years; was a retired Elm River farmer; and a World War I Veteran. He was a member of the Elm River CP (Brown)
Church; a member of Geff Masonic Lodge; a member of the Wayne County WWI Barracks; a member of Cisne American Legion; a member of Retired Teachers Association; and a member of Illinois Farmers Union.

Other survivors include a son, Richard, Geff; a daughter, Mrs. Nick (Virginia) Vasileff, St. Louis; two brothers, George, Akron, Ohio; Oscar, Cisne; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John; a sister, Gertha; a brother, Lowell; and a great-grandddaughter.
