Robert E. Schnabel, 84, Huron, SD died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are pending with Welter Funeral Home in Huron.

Robert Schnabel, "Bobby" the son of Henry F. and Beatrice (Nuss) Schnabel, was born on April 9, 1933 in Dearborn Township near Wolsey, SD, the third of five children. Bobby lived in Wolsey and Redfield until moving to Huron in 1948. He lived at the Center for Independence for about 41 years where he received training, learned skills and held several jobs. He was close to his sister, Pauline, who also lived at the Center, until she passed away in 2015.

Bobby enjoyed being outside, bowling, fishing, watching T.V., attending outdoor concerts, and pretending to read the newspaper.

Grateful for having shared in Robert’s life is his brother, Jack L. Schnabel and wife Gloria, of Yucaipa, CA; 7 nieces: Sharon, Sheila, Tara, Marla, Christie, Melanie, and Cheryl; 5 nephews: Ron, Roger, Richard, Michael, and Craig; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Beatrice Schnabel; brother, Wilbur Schnabel; sisters, Marilyn S. Allred, and Pauline Schnabel; and nieces Denise Schnabel and Vicki Schnabel.
