SPC Jason Edward Cooper, 23, passed away July 14, 2005. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Burial will be at Chariton Cemetery. Family will greet friends and relatives from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Fielding's in Chariton.

Jason was born April 16, 1982 and he lived in Chariton until he was two years old. He moved to Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. He then joined the Army Reserves in March of 2003. He finished his basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was then deployed to Iraq with the 308th QM of Mount Pleasant, Iowa in December of 2003 and returned home March 2005.

He is survived by his mother, Terri Jones of Russell; his father, Edward Cooper of Des Moines; grandmothers, Betty Cooper of Des Moines and Patty Pottorff of Chariton; brother, Mick Jones and sister, Jena Cooper both of Des Moines; nephew, Jacari Cooper; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, A.J. Cooper.

Memorial gifts may be made to the 308th Quartermaster of Mount Pleasant.
