Nancy established a matriachal home and made herself boss of the family, but she was a good mother, according to her granddaughter Amna Louise Wilson Wolfe. She always made all of the family clothes and taught her daughters how to make their own patterns just by looking and holding a paper up to the person.
She died 22 years before her husband's death at the age of 64 on 24 Oct 1941, in Dexter, Stoddard County, Missouri, and is buried there in the Dexter Cemetery.
