Mary Ellzey Kelley, a resident of Natchitoches, passed away peacefully on September 23rd, 2017 in Houston, TX. She was born on September 5, 1954 in Natchitoches to Walter Glenn Jordan and Gloria Lambert Jordan.

She was a 1971 graduate of Florien High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history from the University of West Florida. Later she earned her Master’s in Education from Northwestern State University and then the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Educational Leadership and Instruction which provides certified teachers advanced knowledge and skills in areas of leadership, technology, and special education. The degree is a minimum of 30-hours beyond her Master’s degree. Her working career consisted of teaching history at Marthaville Junior High, as well as positions with Ed Vision, Scantron and McGraw-Hill. Mary faithfully attended Robeline Baptist Church and was also a member at First Baptist Church of Houston. She loved fellowship with her church family. Mary was very proud to be a resident of Natchitoches and was a member of the Natchitoches Service League and also was a part of the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches (APHN).

Mary’s passions included horses, antiquing and spending time with her family and grandkids. Her greatest joy in life and the most important was her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ and spreading his word to all she met. We take comfort in knowing she is rejoicing in heaven today.
