He was born March 2, 1916 in Barnwell, Alberta, Canada.
His parents were Neils James and Emily Lingard Anderson; both deceased. He grew up in southern Alberta on his parents' farm. He served a mission in Great Britain and held many important church positions. He married Georgina Marler Richards, January 19, 1938 in the Alberta Temple. He was a hard worker all of his life in professions such as farmer, shoe salesman, railroad brakeman for the Southern Alberta Railway system, insurance salesman and finally settling down in the Real Estate profession. Douglas enjoyed being around his family and extended family consisting of four children, 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. They gave him great joy and comfort. He loved music, having a beautiful voice. He has sung in many church choirs at different times and performed with his sweetheart in duets for many occasions. He was a gentle man with a wry sense of humor that his family dearly enjoyed. He led an exemplary life and left us with a legacy of fond memories.
He is survived by his wife, Georgina; sons, Douglas R (Linda), Rod, Bruce (Barbara); daughter, Loretta (Don) Enders; brother, Willard J. (Leora) Anderson, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne; sister, Doris; granddaughter, Carmen Anderson; daughter-in-law, Annemarie.
Funeral Services will be Monday, September 23, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 4310 South 3200 West. Friends may call Sunday, September 22, 2002, 7-9 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m.
Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
