Elmer Theodore Anderson was born October 4, 1881, in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas, the 7th of 11 known children born to Gjert "George" Anderson and Hela Tomine Johnson.

Elmer served with the 302nd Wagon Company during World War I. He was stationed in France when he returned home in September 1919.

Elmer is not known to have married and when he registered for the World War II draft in April 1942, he listed his sister Olive (Anderson) Flummer as the person who would always know his address. At the time he was living in Wichita, Kansas.

Elmer died October 31, 1947, in Greenwood County, Kansas.

Elmer's year of birth of 1881 is confirmed in the Fall River Lutheran baptism records which show 1881 versus 1882 which is what his military and Social Security records indicate.
