She married Herman Joseph Abbott on November 30, 1963 in Campbell County, Tennessee. He was the son of Thomas Jackson Abbott & Mary E. Fonda Abbott and the former husband of Willie Guelda Beckworth Abbott. Mr. Abbott passed away, in 1972.
Dorothy married Smiley Jack Poynter on February 7, 1973 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. He was the son of Andrew Walker Poynter & Alice Anderson Poynter and the former husband of Margaret Evelyn Norris.
Obituary-Harrodsburg-Dorothy Belle Poynter, 70, of 854 Warwick Road, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Memorial Hospital.
Born October 5, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Lige and Minnie Maupin Anderson. She was retired from Signet Systems, Inc.
Survivors include her husband, Smiley Jack Poynter, two sons, John Thomas Underwood and Lige William Underwood, both of Harrodsburg, a daughter, Brenda Lewis of Harrodsburg, three brothers, Robert Anderson of Lincoln County, Howard Anderson of Fayette County and Ernest Anderson of Danville, a sister, Ada Hendron of Clarksville, Ind., nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexander and Royalty Funeral Home, Harrodsburg. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is after 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
