Obituary: CLAREMONT Rena Rockette Marlowe, 88, of Claremont, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at Abernethy Laurels (Retirement Community). She was born Sept. 10, 1927 in Catawba County, to the late Troy and Nellie Sigmon Rockette. Rena worked as an Inspector at Newton Glove for 35-plus years and was a member of Fairgrove United Methodist Church in Conover. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Drucilla M. Huffman and husband, Ronald of Conover; sister, Cathy Sigmon of Claremont; grandchildren, Kristie Killian and husband, Matthew of Mocksville, Darrin Huffman of Newton; great-grandchildren, Ivan and Ivey Huffman, Avery, Merritt, Mattison and Hollister Zane Killian. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. at North Newton Baptist Church in Newton. Mr. Keith Yount will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. at North Newton Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Abernethy Laurels, 102 Leonard Ave., Newton, NC 28658.
