Obituary in The Shreveport (LA) Times Sept. 23, 2017:

Shreveport, LA - Funeral Services for LaJuana Butler Goldsby, 84, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Rose-Neath Southside. Rev. Dennis Aaron and Rev. Willis Dear will be officiating. Interment will follow at Wallace Cemetery in the Wallace Community near Pleasant Hill, LA.

LaJuana was born March 21, 1933, in Longview, TX to Jerome Ransom Butler and Blanche Boone Butler and went to be with her Lord and Savior September 20, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 67 years Clyde Thomas Goldsby; brother, Johnnie B. Butler and son-in-law, Dennis R. Welch. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Jeffrey Thomas Goldsby and wife Jan Rachal Goldsby; daughter, Rebecca Goldsby Welch; grandchildren, Matthew T. Goldsby, Sarah Goldsby Burford, Tristan Welch, Erin Welch and Anna Welch Inns; great grandchildren, Brooks Burford and Wyatt Goldsby and numerous family and friends.

LaJuana was a member of Summer Grove U.M.C for over 30 years where she was active in Esther Group and Friendship Class. She was also a member of the Open Range Fellowship Church that she dearly loved. LaJuana was a graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport, LA where she earned a degree in education. She was a very proud Centenary Alumni and was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa. She also was a member of Kate Beard Chapter U.D.C., U.S.S. LA Chapter Daughters of 1812, Pelican Chapter, Colonial Dames (Past State President), and Retired Teachers Association. She retired after 31 years as a Caddo Parish School Teacher.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Goldsby, Matt Goldsby, Tristan Welch, Glen Arnold, John Snider and Jim Stough. Honorary pallbearers are David Cunningham, Bucky Boone and Jack Foster.

LaJuana was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and mother. She will be missed by her family and so many friends. We love you...

Special thanks to her caregivers, Gwen Landers and Mary O'Conn. Also her doctors P.V. Blanchard, Stephen Kilpatrick, Anthony Stuart, Randy Bryn and all the nurses and staff at Lifecare on Linwood Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital and St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
