Keith Earl Johnson
1948-2017

Keith Earl Johnson finished his courageous earthly journey, and battle with cancer, Friday, Sept. 22, 2017. He is now with his Savior and free of pain.

He was born Sept. 15, 1948, in Portland, Ore., to Wilson "Bud" and Rosalie (White) Crabtree. He grew up and attended school in Clarkston and Anatone. While in Anatone, he played basketball and french horn in the band. He finished up his last two years at Clarkston and graduated in 1966. From 1969 to 1970, he served his country in the U.S. Army and did a tour in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge.

After coming home from the Army, he worked for Omark CCI bullet factory in Lewiston. In 1974, he moved to Phoenix and attended Phoenix Community College. He returned in 1978 to Clarkston, where he remained until his passing.

In the early 1980s he worked in the grocery business, beginning with Safeway in Lewiston until its closing, and then in 1983 at Circle K, where he was best known in the community as the night shift manager until the store's closing in 2000. Following that, he worked in temporary positions as a custodian for Clarkston School District until he received a permanent position at the high school, where he remained until his retirement. He claimed that this was his most gratifying job ever, and would have worked longer if his health had not deteriorated. He took much interest in the individual students and staff. Even after retiring, he remained a supporter of the Bantam Boosters and donated time to improving the school's appearance. He is well remembered with endearment by those who had interactions with him through the school.

Keith is survived by his sister, Ramona Johnson Linabary (Kirk) Keller of Bozeman, Mont.; nephews Adam (Briana) Linabary, Samuel (Katie) Linabary, all of Grangeville, Gabriel (Heidi Prockish) Linabary of Topeka, Kan., and James Linabary of Oklahoma City; nieces Alicia (Gordon) Caine of Fort Worth, Texas, and Angelica Linabary of Sioux Center, Iowa; and 14 grandnephews and grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie White Crabtree Johnson, Wilson "Bud" Crabtree, and Raymond Johnson; and brother-in-law Donald Linabary.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Clarkston High School auditorium. There will be a light meal following the service. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be given to the nonprofit of Keith's choice, Clarkston Bantam Boosters, P.O. Box 545, Clarkston, WA 99403.
