EMMA JEAN WELCH HAMMER, age 91 of Dandridge, TN passed away Wednesday evening, September 20, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Vernon Welch and grandparents, Hart and Mary Elizabeth Welch who raised her. Jean was a member of the Seahorns Chapel United Methodist Church and the Martha Dandridge Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Hammer, Sr; daughter, Lorri Hammer Baker; granddaughter, Brooke Stanley and is survived by her son, S.M. Hammer, Jr and wife Audrey; grandchildren, Cynthia (Steve) Gardner, Kendra (Tyler) Lowery, Kody (Amber) Stanley; great-grandchildren, Nikki Walker, Lindsey Gardner, Ariah and Corbin Lowery, Kambryn and Blake Stanley and Aiden Maharrey; very dear special friend, Larry King; other relatives include Mae Goforth and Wendy, Betty Ruth Fine, Joan Rowan, B.H. Welch, Jeff and Jerome Jarnigan and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family extends a special "Thank You" to all the friends and helpers who aided in the care of Jean. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial gifts be made to Seahorns Chapel United Methoist Church, c/o Sara Fox, 2028 Oak Grove Rd., Dandridge, TN 37725.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, 11:00am at Seahorns Chapel Cemetery with Rev. John Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00pm at FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, DANDRIDGE. www.farrarfuneralhome.com
