She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, David Graves; one sister, Shirley Martin; and one granddaughter, April Osborne.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jerry Herndon; son, Joedon Nix and wife, Jackie of Magnolia, AR; two daughters, Vivian Osborne and husband, David of Texarkana, TX and Kerri Ponder and husband, Kenneth of Elm Grove, LA; sons, Jefferson Herndon of Gulf Breeze, FL and Jerrett Herndon of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Mary Herron and husband, Douglas of Texarkana, AR and Esther McCoy of Charlestown, MD; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Alice was a graduate of Northwestern State University School of Nursing. She retired as a registered nurse from Schumpert Medical Center working in the Cancer Treatment Center for 20 years.
She was a loving mother and wife who never had an unkind word for anyone. Loved to laugh at corny jokes and make fun of her husband’s many errors.
Ali loved potting and arranging flowers, working in her butterfly garden, repurposing junk, and caring for her golden retrievers, Rags and Robin. She was an avid garage sale shopper, and was always ready for dinner and a movie.
A Graveside Service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Shiloh Lamartine Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Homes of Stamps, AR. Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the Smith Funeral Home in Stamps, AR.
