Charlotte attended the Pearl School and was a cheerleader for 8 years. Eventually, Charlotte took over the family business, Jones Poultry, from her parents. Her and her sons increased business over the years constantly improving operations while always maintaining the highest standard of quality and freshness. Because of this, Charlotte received the "Business Woman of the Year" award from the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed puzzles, scrapbooking, and making greeting cards. She and Jim loved music and dancing, it was their life. She also liked traveling places, some of which include Florida, Hawaii and the Netherlands. A highlight for Charlotte was traveling in a hot air balloon. She was raised in the Pearl Christian Church until she moved to Greenpond. She was also a past member of HCE and a Red Cross volunteer for 10 years.
She is survived by a son, Danny Bess of Pearl; 5 step children, Jamae Jones of Springfield, Terry (Dennis) Jennings of Pittsfield, Pat (Craig) Barber of Waverly, Larry Jones of Pittsfield, and Martin Jones of Pearl; grandchildren, Kristen Bess of Quincy, Brant Bess of Pittsfield, Brooke Bess, Cole Bess, and Hayden Bess, all of South Carolina; 12 step grandchildren and 15 great step grandchildren.
