Fred Christian DeBusca Sr. of Lihue passed away in Garden Isle Health Care on Sept. 12, 2017, at the age of 96. He was born in Lihue on Aug. 26, 1921, and a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. He retired from Lihue Plantation as a supervisor.

He was preceded in death by wife Elsie Penna DeBusca, son Norbert A. DeBusca, parents Mariano Pacis and Johanna Bandmann DeBusca, and sister Cecelia Dorothea DeBusca Farias.

He is survived by sons Patrick C. (Rosalind) DeBusca and Freddy (Trudy) DeBusca, grandchildren Patrick C. (Michelle) DeBusca Jr., Keith C. (Kari) DeBusca, Debra C. DeBusca, Monica (Derek) Kawakami and Kateri (Kevin) Tennberg, great-grandchildren Michael DeBusca, Kaitlin DeBusca, Christopher Kawakami, Liam DeBusca, Emily DeBusca, Hailee Kawakami, Joshua Dobashi, Teia DeBusca and Matthew Dobashi, brother Mariano P. DeBusca Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Sept. 28, at Immaculate Conception Church, with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Kauai Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
