Roscoe Strother Boleyn, age 91, of Bealeton, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, in Warrenton, Va. He was born on July 30, 1926 in Remington. He graduated from Remington High School in 1944. Shortly thereafter, he volunteered to serve his country during WW II. He enlisted in the Army-Air Corp and served 1944 to 1946 as a part of the Greatest Generation. After his service, he continued his education at Catawba College in N.C. From there, he entered Civil Service with the Railway Postal System. Through various other job positions he finally returned to Civil Service when in 1965, he worked as a Contracts Specialist for the Army at Vint Hill Farm Station. Eventually, he became Manager of the Contracts Division at Vint Hill. He retired in January 1993 after almost 30 years with the Federal Government. He was able to travel all over the world including a beloved trip to the nation of Israel. He was a member of the Culpeper/Fairfax Masonic Lodge where he served as Master of the Brandy Station Chapter at the age of 21. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 247. As a Christian, he was a member of the Liberty United Methodist in Bealeton. He loved leading the Sunday school class as he did for over 15 years. The things he enjoyed were golf, gardening, baseball, especially the Washington Nationals, football and his love of the Redskins and his love for his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Boleyn was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Boleyn Sr.; his mother, Ginnie Strother Boleyn; a brother, Charles E. Boleyn Jr.; and his first wife, June Mills Boleyn. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Clybern Boleyn; sons Stephen R. Boleyn and Bonnie (wife) of Manassas, V. Jay Paul of Richmond and John W. Boleyn and Christina (wife) of Gerrardstown, W.Va. His grandchildren include Justin, Nathan, Ryan, Michelle and Michael Mishenko and Ashley; great-grandchildren Lily, Noel, Nicklas, Levi, Isla, Arron and Savannah; a brother, William A. Boleyn Sr. of Ashburn, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Moser Funeral Home, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, VA 20186. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberty United Methodist Church, 105130 Marsh Road, Bealeton, VA 22712. Following the service, a procession will pass by Mr. Boleyn's residence to the gravesite at Remington Cemetery, 11910 Cemetery Road, Remington, VA 22734. A reception will follow at Liberty United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Liberty United Methodist Church in PO Box 234, Bealeton, VA 22712.
