Paul Erwin Dempsey, 80 of Vandalia, MO passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Tri County Nursing Home.
Born October 6, 1936 on his family farm in New Hartford, MO to the late Lyman B. Dempsey & Emma Mae (Staton). Was cremated and remains will be buried at Smyrna Cemetery, a memorial will be at a later date.
Paul grew up on the family farm, married Bonnie S. Epperson on June 21, 1958 in Vandalia, MO from this union were born: Pamela Betz of Bowling Green, MO, Paula Dollins (Dean) Springfield , TN, Sonya Gilbert (Kevin) New Hartford, MO, Mike Dempsey (Cheryl) of Rhineland, MO , and Monty Dempsey of Bowling Green, MO.
Other survivors are Pauls brothers Raymond (Betty) Dempsey of Sidney, Ohio, Tom (Jean) of Middletown, MO, Barb Taravella of Tucan, Arz., and brother-in-law Sam Ellis.
Grandchildren: Amy (David) Deters, Mandy (Shaun) Burnett, Megan (Casey) Hatton, Rodney Dollins, Crystal (Eric) Hermanson, Tiffany (John) Ellis, Melony (Randy) Grote, Sherry (Ethan) Nutt, Eric (Holly) Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, Michael Dane (Sophie) Dempsey, Jackson (Savana) Dempsey, Clinton Wombles, Kyle Wombles, Cody Wombles, Devin Wombles, Amanda Hernandez, Josh Dempsey, Richard Dempsey, Kayla Dempsey, Samantha Dempsey, Melissa Dempsey, Paul Dempsey, Kristina Spears, and Tim Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lyman B. Dempsey and Emma Mae Staton Dempsey, one son Martin S. Dempsey, a daughter Shonda R. Dempsey, a sister Lois Ellis, brother-in-law Chuck Tarravella, sister-in-law Fern Dempsey and great granddaughter Nevaeh Kieser.
When Paul graduated from Bowling Green High School he worked on the family farm, various other jobs, and retired from City of Malden, MO. He lived in Peidmont, MO before moving to Vandalia to Tri County Nursing Home in 2011.
Loved taking care of hogs, he had show hogs as a young man growing up, continue that love his whole life. Was a collector of coins. Was a member of the Eagles in Piedmont, but most of all loved his family, loved visiting with his great grandkids and winning them things at Bingo. Paul will be missed by many.
