Services for Roy Alvin Vernon 78 will be held at 11:30 Thursday February 12, 2004, in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Reverend Mike Stover officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Hardeman County.

Mr. Vernon died on Monday February 9, 2004, in Nashville TN. A native of Toone TN he was born on June 12, 1925, the son of the late Henry and Wilma Flossie Thornton Vernon. He was married to Frances Evelyn Mullins Vernon who preceded him in death. Mr. Vernon was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. During his service he received the Purple Heart Medal with one Bronze Cluster the American Service Medal the Good conduct Medal the World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Mr. Vernon was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge 332.

He is survived by two sons Glyn Vernon and wife Jackie of Columbia, TN and Donnie Vernon of Enville, TN; a daughter Beverly Ann Sullivan of Jackson; a brother Kenny Vernon of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters Helen Stark of Memphis, TN and Louise Webster of Jackson; five grandchildren Nick Sullivan, Laura Evelyn Vernon Dennis, James Vernon, Hunter Vernon, and Amelia Vernon.

Pallbearers to serve will be Robert Holland Nolan Webster, Ronnie Stockton, Phillip Webster, Nick Sullivan, and Dennis James Vernon. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday February 12, 2004, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors. Arrington Funeral Directors 148 W.
