Andrew M. "Andy" Ackelsberg, 35, of Shippensburg passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Hershey Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born June 21, 1982 in Carlisle, PA. Andy was a son of Donna L. Negley Ackelsberg of Shippensburg and Alan Ackelsberg of Philadelphia.
He was a member of the Cleversburg United Methodist Church. Andy graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School in 2001 and then received his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University in 2014. He was an avid sports fan with his favorite teams being the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, Penn State Nittany Lions, Atlanta Braves and our local Shippensburg Red Raiders. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Andy enjoyed listening to oldies and country music. He volunteered at the Shippensburg Health Care Center and the Shippensburg Senior Center.
Andy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas and Marie Kuntz Negley.
In addition to Andy's parents, he is survived by his uncle and aunt, Barry L. and Pam L. Negley of Shippensburg, uncles, Irv and Joel Ackelsberg, grandmother, Marilyn Ackelsberg, numerous cousins and his dog Freddy.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., Shippensburg. Officiating will be Pastor Barbara A. Servello. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
