MATTOON — Leonard F. "Len" Tyvoll, Jr., age 72, of Mattoon, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.

Funeral services celebrating his life will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2002 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. E. E. Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.

Len was born December 13, 1929 at Cumberland, Wisconsin, a son of Leonard F. and Helma Score Tyvoll, Sr. He married Madonna Lou Shores on April 12, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Mattoon. He is survived by his wife of nearly forty-nine years, Donna; his children, Jeff Tyvoll and wife Gloria of Germantown, Wisconsin, Kevin Tyvoll and wife Cynthia of Prescott, Wisconsin, and Susan Herschberger of Mattoon. He is also survived by a sister, Carol Nokleberg and husband Roald of Duluth, Minnesota; step granddaughter, Michelle Boese and husband Justin; granddaughters Megan Herschberger and Hayley Tyvoll and step great grandson Calvin Boese. Three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Tyvoll was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in the church choir, American Baptist Men and the Evangelism Explosion Program of the church. He served his country as part of the U.S. Navy Air Corps. Len retired after thirty-five years of farming in rural Cumberland, Wisconsin and most recently worked for Kirchner Lumber Company. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to the First Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
