From Vernal Express (Vernal, Utah) - Thursday, April 18, 1929:
Mrs. Susie Colton Young of Myton, a native of Ashley Valley, passed away at the home of her father, Adelbert Colton, at nine o'clock Friday, April 12th. She has been in poor health for several months. Three times during the year she had an attack of the flu, which seriously impaired her heart. To make matters worse her teeth became infected necessitating their being extracted. Theses illnesses were followed by pneumonia. After being treated at Myton near her home she was brought to Vernal last Tuesday, but in spite of aid given her she grew gradually worse until the end came.

Very impressive services were held in the First Ward chapel at 1 p.m. Monday under the direction of Bishop James H Wallis. The speakers recalled recollections of Susie as a school girl and the impressions of cheerfulness she left among her associates. The interment was made at the Maeser cemetery. [More about the funeral is in the newspaper article.]

Susie Colton Young is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Colton and was born in Maeser, December 21, 1884. She was educated in the elementary schools here and the Uintah and Wilcox Academies in Vernal. While a young woman she taught school in the public schools of Uintah county. In March 1908 she was married to Clifford Young. This happy couple made their home in Ashley valley until about thirteen years ago when they moved to a farm in Antelope, Duchesne county, where they have since resided. Beside her husband and four children, Wilson, Norman, John LeGrand, and Mary Eleanor, she leaves her father and mother and the following brothers and sisters: Adelbert Colton, Jr., Mrs. LaMar Samuels, George Colton, to mourn her loss.
