Obituary from Sunland Memorial Park:

Robert H. Albert was born on February 14, 1934 in St. Petersburg, FL. He graduated from St. Petersburg High and then worked many different occupations, including: roofing, driving truck, laundromat tasks and working for a meat store.

In 1954, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, completed basic training at Parris Island, then went to a specialty school at El Toro, Santa Ana, CA for Aircraft Fire Control Technician school. He was honorably discharged in 1957 as a Sgt., and earned the National Defense Service Medal and good conduct Medal. He then entered the Naval Reserve for a short term of enlistment.

In 1957, he was introduced to Anna Marie Japhet, in Cortland, New York. He proposed to Anna in his Marine Corps uniform and they were engaged then married on March 15, 1958. They built a small home in Maine, NY. During their first home build, he was hired by IBM as an electrical technician, and worked with the NASA space program from Gemini to the space shuttle missions. Several years later the home was expanded to accommodate a larger family. From 1959 to 1968, Robert and Anna raised 4 sons, Dennis, Steven, Martin and Edward. While raising their sons, Robert was very involved with the local church, Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis Club, and his greatest passion was the Boy Scouts, where he was Scoutmaster for many years.

He retired from IBM in 1992 as a Senior Associate Staff Engineer/Scientist. He also was individually credited with two patents with IBM that immensely reduced the man-hour needs to accomplish a task. Shortly after retirement, he worked several years as a subcontractor for Martin Marietta. In 1997, Robert and Anna discovered Sun City, AZ and sold their home in New York, and moved to Arizona to begin their lives in retirement. Robert and Anna also have enjoyed their 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. During his years in retirement in Arizona he stayed very busy with many projects to include home improvement and landscaping. His pinnacle achievement in retirement is hundreds of hours spent researching and traveling around the country to publish a Genealogy book that is on record in the Library of Congress.

Robert was a member of Lakeview Methodist Church, and is survived by Ann Albert, his wife of 59 years; sons, Dennis (Minerva) Albert, Steven Albert, and Martin (Arlene) Albert; two sisters, Wanda (Gene) Chrysler and Joann (Thomas) Adams; grandchildren Bethany (Edward) Wellner, Danielle McPhail, Christopher Albert, Tiffany (Scott) Shelton, Gabriel Albert, Brianna Albert and Tyler Albert; great grandchildren, Charlie McPhail, Cameron Shelton, and Isabell Shelton. He is predeceased by his son Edward, brothers Leo and Joseph, and sisters Eugenia and Betty. He was loved as a husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and will be very missed by all.
