Maura was born on January 3, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM, the daughter of John A. Grossetete and Rita Padilla.
Maura was a talented artist and thoroughly enjoyed crocheting and puzzle games. Maura won numerous ribbons and awards in ceramics and her painting on ceramics even resulting in placement in the New Mexico State Fair. Maura graduated from West Las Vegas High School.
Maura was Catholic and loved the Señora de Guadalupe and enjoyed praying the rosary.
Maura is survived by her her sons, Adolph A. Sánchez of Charlotte, NC and Carlos J. Sánchez of Bernalillo, NM, former husband, José L. Sánchez, her sisters, Virginia, Janice and Charmaine, her brothers, Arnold, Alfred, John and Godwin, numerous nieces and nephews and a number of other relatives and close friends.
There will be a Catholic rosary at 9:00 a.m. with Mass following at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel del Vado Catholic Church on Monday September 18, 2017 and public graveside service soon after for friends and family at the San Miguel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the New Mexico Parents of Blind Children (NMPOBC), http://nfbnm.org.
