BARNWELL - Albert L. Carroll, 80, passed away on Wednesday November 23, 2011, in Providence Hospital.
Mr. Carroll was born January 21,1931, in Barnwell County. He was a son of the late Marvin L. and Thelma Bodiford Carroll. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, member of Harmony 17 Masonic Lodge and served as a deacon of Long Branch Baptist Church and Ha-good Avenue Baptist Church. He was a member of Barnwell First Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Barnwell and was a licensed general contractor. He started and ran a successful construction company for 47 years. He was a partner in several other business ventures in the area. His passion was investing in and managing timberland. He was a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy. His love for his five grandchildren was unmatched. His kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Barnwell First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Richardson and Rev. Jamie Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery at the airport. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Mole Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 90 Manville Ave., Barnwell, SC 29812.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Creech Carroll; son, Albert Lee Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jack McEwen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Claire Car-roll, and Ed and Jenny Carroll; grandchildren, Lawson, Walker and Anna Carroll, Ray and Nick McEwen, all of Barnwell. He was predeceased by two sisters, Kathryn Cheek and Betsy Grubbs.
