Anthony Joseph Lawrence departed this life on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Opelousas General Hospital. Born on December 16, 1954 in New Orleans. Loving father of April Lawrence Brown and Toni Lawrence (Reginald) Smith and grandfather of Vivian, Skye, Remi, Mya, Kayla, Reese, Jace and Riley. Anthony is survived by his mother, Mrs. Helen S. Lawrence, two brothers, Aaron M. Lawrence and (the Rev.) Martin E. Lawrence, several aunts, a host of cousins, his former spouse of 24 years and the mother of his children, Patricia Sylvester, his close friend, Lori Johnson and many other dear friends. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his father, Joseph N. Lawrence, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Age 56, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Washington, Louisiana for the past several years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, beginning at 12 noon at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, 207 North Camille Street, Opelousas, Louisiana. Inurnment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery #1 on Canal Street in New Orleans, to follow at a later date. Prayers and Holy Masses for the happy repose of Anthony’s soul are the greatest tribute.
