A Polish-born artist, Mr. Baranowski of 21905 Evergreen, Southfield, died Saturday in New Grace Hospital.
Although his painting covered a wide field, Mr. Baranowski was particularly noted for painting on velvet, a technique he had studied in Krakow.
During the 1932 Washington Bicentennial Celebration, his portrait of George Washington was reproduced on many banners. A painting depicting the origin of petroleum is on display in the Museum of Natural Science in Washington.
He is survived by a brother, Caesar.
Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the R.G. & G. R. Harris Funeral Home, 14751 W. McNichols and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 10 Mile and Lahser.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
