A native of Andover, Massachusetts, he lived in Fairfield since 1964. Charles’ 20-year military service included Korea, Japan, Moffett Field, California and he retired from the U.S. Air Force at Travis AFB as a Master Sergeant in 1967. Charles graduated from Solano College and UC Davis, then was employed by the National Park Service and state of California. Hobbies include golf, gardening and travel.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and Joan Chevalier and David and Beth Chevalier, all of Fairfield; sister, Isabel Dowe of Lawrence, Massachusetts; brothers, David (Robin) Chevalier of Barre, Vermont, Paul (Marilynn) Chevalier of Wasilla, Arkansas, and Brian (DottiAnn) Chevalier of North Hampton, New Hampshire; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Carol Jean Chevalier in 1967; and two brothers, Robert (1995) and William (2016).
Private graveside services will be held at a later date in La Crosse, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1125 Missouri St., #109, Fairfield, CA 94533.
