Calvin Wayne “ Wayne “ Burgess, 66, of Greenville, South Carolina passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 4, 2017 in Greenville. Born in Greenville, South Carolina to his parents, Berry and Grace Burgess. Wayne worked in the Textile Industry in mills in the Greenville area for over 30 years. For the last 20 years he worked for Wal-Mart first in sporting goods and lastly in shipping and receiving and he had just recently retired within the last six months. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather he was a Hero in his last moments on this earth as he pushed the wheelchair of his disabled grandson out of the way of the oncoming vehicle that took his life! He will be forever loved and remembered for his heroic sacrifices. Wayne was also a member of Calvary First Church in San Souci.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Burgess of Greenville, South Carolina. He is survived by his sons, Scotty Burgess and wife, Wendy of Piedmont and Brian Burgess and fiance, Rachel of Greenville, South Carolina; his brothers, Eddie Burgess of Greenville, and Don Burgess of Greenville; his sisters, Margaret Turner of Greenville, Joyce Roper of Greenville, and Edna Cagle of Greenville; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was a great man and has gone on to wait for his loved ones in heaven. Until then he is sorely missed, and always remembered.
