DURHAM - Mr. John Lewis Marcom , age 90, of 1525 Tyonek Drive, died at Durham Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 14, 2004, after a brief illness. Mr. Marcom was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. He was the son of the late John W. Marcom and Jennie Nutt Marcom . Mr. Marcom retired from American Tobacco Company and was a member of Angier Avenue Baptist Church and Men's Cabin Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Thomas Marcom .

He is survived by a daughter, Betty M. Stone of Durham; one sister, Elsie M. Price of Durham; two grandchildren, Terri Stone and Jimmy Stone and wife, Sandy both of Durham and three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dylan and Tyler Stone; niece, Marie Cross of Durham and nephew, Fred Swearengin of Alabama.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hudson Chapel with Dr. Gerald Goodwin and the Rev. Crate Jones officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Ernest Briggs, Tom Dempsey, Jimmy Cole, Jason Hall, Victor Snipes and Earl Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Cabin Class. The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 3915 Angier Avenue.

Flowers are acceptable or donations can be made in honor of Tyler Stone, Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 1005 Bullard Court, Suite 105, Raleigh, NC 27615.
