Mrs. Myrtle Irean [Irene] Blain Madsen, 78, of Tremonton, died Tuesday [May 28, 1974] at the home of a son in Tremonton of natural causes.

Mrs. Madsen was born May 16, 1896, in Spring City, Sanpete County, Utah, a daughter of John and Serilda Jane Allred Blain. She was reared and educated in Sanpete County.

She was married to Amasa LeRoy Madsen on Aug. 20, 1913, in Manti, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple [of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints] on Oct. 4, 1923. They moved to Tremonton where they owned and operated a farm. Mr. Madsen died March 23, 1947. She was a member of the 1st Ward and had served as a religion class teach, Sunday School teacher and Primary teacher. She was a member of the Primary presidency and had served as president and teacher in the Relief Society. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Midland Camp. She formerly worked at Hunts Foods and as a cook at the McKinley School in Tremonton.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter, A. Duain Madsen, J. Blain Madsen, both of Tremonton; Mrs. John A. (Vion) Mainland, Kaysville; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday [May 31, 1974] at 1 p.m. in the Tremonton 1st Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Rogers Mortuary in Tremonton Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Burial in the Riverview Cemetery in Tremonton.
