Marion "Marty" Tays, founder of Port City Tarpaulin and Supply, Inc. and American Awning, passed away at home on Monday, September 4, 2017. A long-time resident of Central, he was born in Booneville, MS on January 17, 1936.

He served in the US Army Corp in Germany in the early 60's. Marty went to LSU and graduated in 1965 with a degree in Forestry and Wildlife.

Marty is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wanda LeBlanc Tays; three daughters, Tonya Tays Darnell and husband, Kee, Dana Jenkins Wells and husband, Kenny, and Haley Jenkins LeBlanc and husband, Joey; two sons, Robert Jenkins, Darrell Jenkins and wife, Marilyn; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Griffin and husband, Ed, Katherine Greer and husband, Tom; and one brother, Gene Tays.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Meriam Tays; two brothers, Benny and Billy Tays; and sister, Ann Lindsey.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 10:00am until time of memorial service at 2:00pm.
