Robert Conway, 84, of Texhoma passed away Monday afternoon, September 4, 2017 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The ninth of eleven children, Robert Everett was born June 30, 1933 to Everett and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Conway at Rusk, Texas. Robert was raised at New Woodville, Oklahoma near Lake Texoma. He attended school at Woodville and high school at Kingston, Oklahoma.

Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard a Navy destroyer. He received his honorable discharge on August 12, 1959.

Robert and Olene Parker were united in marriage on January 12, 1962 in Borger, Texas. The family moved to Texhoma in 1967 from Sunray, Texas. Robert was a longtime deacon at the Pentecostal Church of God in Texhoma and had also taught Sunday school for many years. He was an excellent carpenter, as well as being a jack-of-all trades. He had worked as a truck driver, school bus driver, mechanic and in maintenance. Robert was also well known for his extensive collection of ink pens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Olene Conway of the home; daughter, Nita Conway of Texhoma; granddaughter, Jakala and husband, Darren McDaniel of Lubbock, Texas and two great grandchildren: Tommy Everett and Callie McDaniel. He is also survived by two sisters: Frances Conner and Martha Conway, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, September 7th at 3:00 p.m. at the Texhoma Cemetery with Rev. Larry Brace, pastor of the Texhoma Pentecostal Church of God officiating. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

There will be a time of visitation with the family on Wednesday, September 6th from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Texhoma Pentecostal Church of God, 3rd & Carroll St. The family suggests that memorials in Robert's name be made to the Texhoma Meals on Wheels.
