Arthur F. Abel, Jr., 68, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Memorial Hospital, succumbing to cancer following a 12 year remission. He was the husband of Linda S. (Arnold) Abel.
Born September 14, 1948 in York, he was the eldest son of the late Arthur Abel, Sr., and the late and Helen (Toomey) Abel. He was a 1966 graduate of York Suburban High School, and was currently employed at Specialty Emulsions as a plant manager. He was a man of great faith in God, and was a member of Connection Christian Church in York. He found great pleasure in this employment, he enjoyed watching TV, old movies and American pickers, and he loved dirt track racing.
He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife of 43 years, Mr. Abel is survived by his daughter, Chastity S. Abel of York; son, Chad M. Abel and his wife Samantha of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Oliver, Andie and Lauren; two sisters, Wanda Good and her husband, Stephen of York Haven, and Dorothy Byers and her husband, Richard of Dover; and two brothers, Ronald Abel and his wife, Donna of Port Orange, FL, and Jeffrey Abel and his wife, Linda of Dover. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Chris Abel.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Connection Christian Church, 2901 Pleasant Valley Road, with his Pastor, The Rev. Dennis Ray, officiating. A visitation with the family will immediately follow the service. Burial will be private. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to York County Food Bank, 254 W. Princess Street, York, PA 17401, The York Rescue Mission, PO Box 1968, York, PA 17405 or to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
