Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Appleton. Rev. Vernon Jenson will officiate and interment will be at the Appleton City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before services on Wednesday.
Esther Bryan was born February 12, 1913 in Edison Township, Swift County, MN the daughter of George and Violet (Bird) Bryan. She graduated from Appleton High School and had one year of Normal Training in Appleton. Esther taught Country School for several years and later received a Bachelors Degree from the University of MN at Morris in 1966. She then taught Special Ed and Grade School in Appleton until retiring in 1976. She was united in marriage with Peter W. Christensen February 14, 1934 at Appleton. Esther was active at Bethel Evangelical Free Church. She participated musically in the church choir, a women's trio, and was organist for 20 years. Esther also taught Sunday School and held offices in the Missionary Society. She enjoyed nature; especially birds and flowers. One of her hobbies was quilting.
She is survived by her husband, Pete; two daughters: Amy Ayers and Jane Skaar; two sons: Todd and Kim; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Sarah Jo Christensen; one son, Lee Christensen; and five brothers: Bill, Joe, Maurice, Ed and George, Jr.
