CHILD DIES FROM POISONING
Two-Year Old Son of Mr. and Mrs Charles Hall Eats Several Strychnine Pills

Thursday morning while his parents were attending the funeral of Mrs. Jane Howard, ( Charles Hall's Mother)Theodore, the two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hall of 910 South Webster street, poisoned himself by taking medicine intended for another. The child had been left at the home of his grandfather, John Ancene of 893 South Webster street, while the parents attended the funeral and was playing about the room where his grandfather was lying sick in bed. The child had a nickle in a pillbox and was playing with it on the table where there was another box containing pills which Mr. Ancene was taking under the direction of his physician. He noticed the child eating something but thought it was a cookie and a few minutes later an aunt of the child came into the room and found the child had the pills out of the box on the table and was playing with them. She asked him if he had any in his mouth and he showed her that he had not. About twenty minutes later the boy was taken with spasms and died an hour later. Dr. H. C. Jones was called and did everything possible but from the first there was no hope.
Coroner C. E. Dawson held an inquest Thursday afternoon at which the foregoing facts were brought out and Dr. N. D. Myers stated that the pills which he had prescribed for Mr. Ancene contained each a sixtieth of a grain of strychnine and gave it as his opinion that two of the pills would be fatal to a child two years old.
It has been decided that the body shall remain at the Ancene home until the funeral which will be held from St. James Catholic church Sunday.
