Juan Lamar Billingsley, 70, of Scaly Mountain, N.C., died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at his home.
He was born April 18, 1936, in Macon County, N.C., to the late Jim and Lillie Brown Billingsley. He worked as a farmer and lived in Scaly Mountain all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Scaly Mountain Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Billingsley of Scaly Mountain; two daughters, Laura Vinson and Norma Alexander, both of Gainesville; two sons, Donnie Billingsley of Highlands, N.C., and Johnny Billingsley of Scaly Mountain; two brothers, Gene and Homer Billingsley, both of Scaly Mountain; three sisters, Ruth Vinson, Gail Head and Alice Holt, all of Scaly Mountain; and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 1 with the Revs. Danny Cannon, Dwite Loggins, Wren Worley and Clay Patton officiating. Burial followed at Scaly Mountain Methodist Cemetery.
