Mr. Basczinski was a native of Holland, Poland, and after immigrating to the United States, served 22 years and retired from the U.S. Army. He was a military policeman and a prisoner of war during the Korean War, and also served in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart for a wound he suffered on December 29, 1950.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Greg and Mary Basczinski a daughter, Debi Aull, and a grandson, Jeremy Martin.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Lavenna R. Basczinski, daughter Cindy (Louie) May of Owensboro, stepson Bobby (Ann) Back of North Carolina, stepdaughter Linda (Mike) Craven of Louisville, Ky., and stepson Steven L. Back, of Frankfort, Ky., grandchildren, Mandy and Eric May, Steve Martin, and step-grandchildren, Christy Craven and Jennifer Back, and 4 great-grandchildren.
