I, 98th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 29, 1865. His surname is spelled "Golding" in the company descriptive list but "Golden" in the company register, the spelling he used in applying for his disability pension.
He married Sarah Agnes Sneeringer and fathered Emory Levi David (b. 04/18/72), William Alphonse (b. 12/26/73), Mary Josephine (b. 01/26/76), Joseph Henry (b. 02/06/78), Virgil Francis (b. 03/21/81), Augustus Jerome (b. 03/23/84), Theresa Agnes (b. 11/08/86), and Anna Bridget (b. 03/14/90). In 1890, he was living in Mount Pleasant Township, Adams County, where he died at his home in Bonneauville at the reported age of 76-2-3, which calculates to a birth year of 1842. His obituary, death certificate, and tombstone spell his surname "Golden," but some family members used "Gulden."
