Alvah Allison
Alvah R. Allison, 82, of Chester RD 1 died Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Extended Care Center here following a long illness. Mr. Allison was born Feb. 2, 1895, in Hancock County, W. Va., a son of Alexander S. Allison and Mary A.
Huff Allison. He was retired in 1955 from the Columbia Gas Co. of West Virginia with 17 years' service. He also was a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meadow Brook Circle. Besides his widow, Mrs. Cora E. Barber Allison, whom he married Sept. 26, 1936, in Wellsburg, W. Va., survivors include a stepson, Joe J. Allison of East Liverpool, a step-daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Wylie of Lisbon; a brother, Edgar S. Allison of Newell; two sisters, Mrs. T. C. (Dora) Greenwalt of Chester and Mrs. C. L. (Bessie) Kennedy of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. from the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester by the Rev. Donald E. Gillenwater. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel Thursday afternoon and night where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
