George Raymond Alexander, 81, of Longview, Texas went to be with his heavenly Father on August 31, 2017 in Longview.

George was born into a loving family in Midyett, TX to Charlie and Lucile Alexander on December 18, 1935. He graduated from Carthage High School in 1956. He married Mary Emma (Thomas) on January 12, 1963 in Marshall, TX – a marriage that lasted over 54 years. He worked for Lone Star Steel for 30 years. Served in the Army in Italy and Germany and the Texas Army National Guard and received numerous awards and decorations. He loved deer hunting, enjoyed working in his shop and welding, had fun camping with friends and family, played forty-two to win, and told stories to anyone who’d listen.

George is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Margie Edwards and husband George, Mildred Alexander, and Annie Margaret Barnett and husband Hugh; his two brothers, Arthur Alexander, and Charlie Alexander.
