Joseph Manning Brown, 76, a retired Freeport mail carrier, died at the Lizer nursing home in Stockton yesterday noon after several months' illness. He lived at 1524 West American Street.
Services will be held at the Walker mortuary, West Main Street, at 3 p.m. Saturday. Rev Anthony P. Landgraf, pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, will conduct the services. Internment will be made in City Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted.
Mr. Brown was born April 27, 1873, in Maryland Station, Ogle County, a son of William and Mary Brown.
His marriage to Miss Caroline Rohkar took place April 13, 1893.
Survivors include the widow and a daughter, Mrs. T. E. Dwyer of Hobart, Ind.
One brother survives, Daniel Brown, of Rockford.
He was a member of Evergreen Lodge of Masons and Freeport Censitary.
Mr. Brown was a mail carrier in Freeport for 42 years before retiring in 1937.
