Dolly Marie (Allender) Wodtke was born September 27th, 1929 in Brown County Indiana, and passed away Monday, 28th, 2017. She was the daughter of Cecil and Ruth (Snyder) Allender.

Her husband of 67 years, Mr. Norman Francis Wodtke, who has been with her since they were married December 31st, 1949, resided with her in Plainfield Indiana. She is survived by two sons, one daughter-in-law, and one sister: Charles J. Wodtke, Stephen E. & Carolyn (Lori) Wodtke, all of Avon Indiana, and sister Irene (Schroeder), of Nashville Indiana. Dolly is also survived by five grandchildren.

Dolly was preceded in her passing by several brothers and sisters: Glenn E. (1911-1990), Donnel Oren (1912-1912), Ivan C. (1915-1924), George A. (1918-1994), Mary (Kirts-Brown) (1920-2012), Mabel (Tucker) (1922-2005), Beryl (Deckard) (1925-2017), Robert (Bobby) C. (1932-2011) and R. Leon (1933-1939).

Dolly was a part of a large close family. Early life was remembered both with laughter and tears. Tears are remembered from having to leave behind everything she owned in a burning house. These were overcome with happier times, later, during pre-teen hi jinxes. One example she shared was of driving her Dad’s car with her closest sisters Irene and Beryl. It took all 3 to drive the car: 1 to steer, one on the brake and gas, and one watching.

Humor and religion are staples of the family. Dolly was a cheerleader and graduate of 1947 Helmsburg High School. After graduation she lived in Indianapolis with her sister and brother in law Mabel and Charles Tucker while she was employed by Herff Jones Jewelries.

It was during this time that she and her husband Norman of 67 years met on a blind date. Dolly worked inside the home raising her sons, and during the mid-60s started working for Schlage Lock until retirement. A member of Saint Michael, Saint Gabriel, and Saint Suzanna Catholic Churches, Dolly was a devoted Christian, Catholic, believer and follower of Jesus Christ.
