Ruth Mae Stephens (Granny Ruth) passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 87.

Ruth was a member of Pleasant Hill Church and a retiree from Maryville City School as a Cafeteria worker. She was an avid bowler for over 50 years and won several local and state tournaments. In 2001 she won the Women’s International Bowling Congress Seniors Championship 70 and older division. Ruth and her sister Marie were very enthusiastic Lady Vol fans attending every home game decked out in their Lady Vol attire.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Robert Stephens; Son, Randy Stephens; Grandson, Justin Teffeteller; Parents, Homer & Dorothy Jones; Brother, JR Jones; Sister, Charlotte Squires.

Survivors include: Daughter, Debbie (Roger) Teffeteller; Son, Bobby Stephens; Daughter-in-law, Tanvia Kresse; Grandchildren, David & Nicki Teffeteller; Step-Grandchildren, Justin & Trent; Brother, Carl (Wanda) Jones; Sisters, Marie Cable, Ruby Crye, and Pat Elrod; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Russell & Helen Stephens and JR & Rose Stephens; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of Clove Hill Senior Living. Their loving care was very much appreciated.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 PM with Rev. Frank Mason & Rev. Danny Treadway officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Grandview Cemetery.
