Rhea E. Zickafoose, 80, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at 9:10 a.m. at her home.

Mrs. Zickafoose graduated in 1954 from Huntington Township High School. She also attended Huntington University and Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.

She worked as a nursing assistant at Huntington Memorial Hospital for 20 years and retired from the Huntington City-Township Public Library after 10 years of service. She also served as coordinator of the Huntington County Literacy Coalition for 12 years. She was a member of Faith Community Church of God.

She was born Sept. 27, 1936, in Huntington to Albert and Gladys Hasty Sands. She married Richard Zickafoose on Sept. 17, 1954, in Huntington, and he survives.

Additional survivors include four daughters, Vickie Roberts, of Schertz, TX; Valerie (Jim) Brown, of Andrews; Vanessa (Jeff) Uecker, of Seminole, FL; and Virginia (Philip) Guth, of Elgin, IL; two sons, Greg (Jill) Zickafoose, of Huntington, and Gary (Geri) Zickafoose, of Uniondale; a sister, Lois Bidwell, of Wabash; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at Faith Community Church of God, 3615 N. Norwood Rd., Huntington. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
