Donald Forrest, or Duck to his many family and friends, was born on January 20th, 1933 in Teresita, OK, the son of Ray and Julia (Hayre) Forrest. He joined a family of two brothers, Jeff and James, and three sisters, Ruth, Cleo, and Pauline.

He attended school at Lucky Springs. He would meet and marry the love of his life, Arta Elizabeth Hobbs, Lizzy to her family, on November 17th, 1952 in Moody, OK. This union was blessed with one son, George and one daughter, Donna. This union lasted 61 years until Lizzy passed from this life on June 19th, 2013.

They lived for a time in California. It was here that Duck worked for the US Forestry Department, a job he dearly loved.

Upon returning to Oklahoma, He worked at farming, raising hogs, and operating a sawmill.

Duck was a man that enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a lot of conversation with friends and family. If you wanted an opinion, he had an opinion on about every subject. He liked time tinkering in his shop, doing a little carpentry.

He never missed a chance to do a little fishing or to catch a baseball game, especially the World Series. Don liked a wide variety of music, and gospel hymns were his favorite. A Christian by faith, Don called Mt. Zion General Baptist Church his home.

His family was a great source of pride, and he liked spending time with his grandchildren, especially when Lizzy made her famous chicken and dumplings to share.

Don's health began to fail him and the Lord called this hard working man home from his labors on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 in Tahlequah, OK.

Don was 84 years old. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Elizabeth, two brothers, Jeff and James Forrest and two sisters, Cleo Nutter and Pauline Tomlinson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, George Lee Forrest and wife Brenda of Pryor, OK, and Donna Jones and husband Larry of Peggs, OK.

He leaves one sister, Ruth Maggard of Pryor, OK.

He lives on in his two grandchildren, Christine Rasmussen and husband Ryan of Cushing, OK, and Todd Forrest of Broken Arrow, OK.

His great grandchildren include Kayla Hunt and husband Colby of Cushing, Derek Smith, Connor Timmons, Ryan Timmons, and Grayson Dennis all of Cushing.

He also leaves two great great grandchildren, Chloie and Maycee Hunt both of Cushing, OK. There are many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
