She was born on November 25, 1927 in Drakesboro, KY to the late Verda Mae Travis and James Robert Travis, Sr. She was formerly employed with Sureway in Madisonville. Thelma was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed baking and sewing but the most enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Travis, Jr.; and her grandson, Jacob Thomas McDowell.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years, hirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville with Bro. Ronnie Hendricks officiating. Burial to follow at Hanson Cemetery in Hanson, KY.
