Ellen Agnes Elgar, the beloved sister of composer Edward Elgar, known affectionately as "Dot" by family and friends. After the death of her parents, Ellen entered the Dominican Sisters of St Rose of Lima, Stroud, Gloucestershire, England, on 3 MAR 1903. This English community of Dominican Sisters was founded by Reverend Mother Mary Teresa Matthews, a noted convert to Roman Catholicism in the 19th century.

As Sister Mary Reginald, OP, Ellen worked tirelessly among the poor and in the classroom. Sister Reginald eventually became Mother Superior of St Rose Convent, Stroud.
