October 8, 1942 - August 21, 2017
William E. Delk Jr., age 74, of Richmond, IN passed away peacefully on Monday August 21, 2017 at Rosebud Village, after a lengthy illness. Bill was born on October 8, 1942 in Richmond, IN. The son of the late William E. and Virginia (Link) Delk of New Madison, OH. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by sister Patty Delk and brother Johnny Delk. He is survived by his wife Sandra L. Delk; children Debra Belt of Richmond, IN, Dawn Delk – Baker of Cincinnati, OH and John Delk of Richmond, IN; grandchildren Virginia Jenkins, Bradley Jenkins and Kevin Belt; step-grandchildren Joshua Baker and Rachael Baker; sisters Delorce (Marvin) Howard and Carol (Harold) Lackey; brother Richard (Karen) Delk; sisters-in-law Geraldine Stewart and Shirlene (Dan) Fiasco; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill graduated from New Madison High School in 1960, he then married Sandra L. Cline on July 19, 1969. Bill was a very proud and active Richmond, Indiana citizen before his stroke in 2003. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was named as a Kentucky Colonel. He served his community on Wayne County Chamber of Commerce board, Whitewater Gorge Park Committee, helped form the Starr-Gennett Foundation and helped to make Richmond recognized as an “ALL AMERICAN CITY”. Bill was recognized and given a lifetime membership to the fraternal order of police, he served six terms on the State Mental Health Board, worked with IU East to create eight scholarships in his name. He Also served on Murat Shrine Circus committee. Bill was a member of Richmond Masonic Lodge, Tarum Shrine Club, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite and Murat Shrine Club. Bill was the former owner of Sparkle Car Wash and Connie’s House of Marker Restaurant.
Funeral services for Bill be held at 3:00 P.M. on Monday August 28, 2017 at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary with George Delk officiating. Burial will follow in Hollansburg cemetery in Hollansburg, OH.
